We are sorry to announce that the SBEF Board of Directors has made the decision to discontinue the programs at Rosedale and Crotona after the end of this school year. The programs will be discontinued as of May 31, 2020.
There are several reasons for this decision: a combination of long-term trends in enrollment, retaining staff, procuring adequate funding, and increasing numbers of similar programs in the South Bronx.
We would like to thank all those who have supported SBEF’s programs over the years as staff, parents, volunteers, and donors. The success of the programs has always depended on all of these persons working as a team: “Together we can”!
Your work and contributions have born much fruit over the 40+ years that the programs have been operating. They have helped hundreds of kids and a large number of them will always say that the programs changed their lives for the better and that they would not be where they are today without them. The efforts of so many people, happily, will live on in the Bronx for years to come.
